Based in New York, Uncommon is passionate about emerging technologies, interactivity and digital media. We have a history of creating robust and simple solutions to tough technical challenges. While we have consulted for Fortune 500 companies and created work for international art festivals, we simply seek to shepherd unique projects from concept to completion. Our projects have been viewed, heard, held, installed, played, ridden and browsed. Uncommon Projects specializes in developing the hardware, software and media that support great ideas.

Tarikh Korula
Founder
Tarikh Korula is a technologist and entrepreneur based in New York. He Founded Uncommon Projects in 2005. Uncommon’s work has included product development and interactive marketing campaigns for Hopelab, Yahoo! and the Museum of American Finance. Korula has guest lectured on design/prototyping at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), SVA’s MFA in Interaction Design program (IxD) and Parsons. He has written for Make magazine and helped organize TechCrunch’s first Hack Day at the Disrupt Conference in NYC, 2010.
Jeff Kirsch
Research Resident
Jeff is an Interaction Designer in Brooklyn, NY. He’s particularly interested in how people relate to each other and discover themselves through things and places. He’s drawn toward objects that live in a specific context within an ecosystem of connected devices. Jeff is entering his thesis year in the MFA in Interaction Design program at the School of Visual Arts. Samples of his work can be viewed at projects.jeffkirsch.com
Josh Rooke-Ley
CTO
Josh has over 10 years of coding experience building interactive web, mobile, and rich media applications. He has worked on everything from interfaces for smart appliances to large scale e-commerce web sites. He is a programming language polyglot, fluent in c/objective-c, python, javascript, and java to name a few. As a technical lead, he is an expert in finding the right tools, building expertise, and delivering solutions to fit complex project requirements. He is the CTO at Uncommon Projects, a interactive services company based in Brooklyn.
Justin Blinder
Research Resident
Justin Blinder is an interactive designer, developer, and creative technologist living in Brooklyn. His work explores virtualized interaction, community, and emotion through the use of various physical and digital technologies.
